BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - FATISHA IMO is currently in China and making history by being the first representative from St. Kitts and Nevis in 25 years to compete in the prestigious Miss World Pageant.
Almost every young lady has dreamt of entering pageants such as Miss World and Miss Universe. Imo is living that dream and hopes to make her country proud.
The franchise holder of Miss World St. Kitts and Nevis, Eversley Liburd, selected Imo as the 2010 delegate and declared that he has faith in her ability to perform with excellence.
Pageantry is not new to the 22-year-old beauty as she placed First Runner-up in the 2007-2008 National Carnival Queen Pageant, Third Runner-up in the 2008 Miss Caribbean Queen Culture Pageant, and received Best Performing Talent in the 2010 Miss Caribbean World Pageant.
She has also chaperoned numerous contestants, including the 2008-2009 National Carnival Queen, Samantha Boone, and the 2009-2010 Miss Talented Teen, Zingo Imo.
According to a release, Imo is extremely happy to be walking in the footsteps of Haley Cassius, her godmother and chaperone who represented the Federation in the 1988 Miss World Pageant held at the Royal Albert Hall, London, UK.
Imo is currently undergoing studies at the Midwestern State University, where she intends to graduate with a double major in Accounting and Spanish and dreams of one day providing sound financial assistance to businesses across the Caribbean region.
The pageant will be held on Saturday, October 30 and Imo had arrived in Beijing on Saturday, October 2.
Liburd extends gratitude to Hugh Mallileiu and American Airlines, LIME, Miss Amoy Arache, Miss Joan Mailliard, Mrs. Sonia Carr, Imo’s mother Lynette Williams and all others who assisted in making the twin-island Federation representative’s trip possible.
“As a proud Kittitian of Nevisian decent, I am so pleased to be a part of this historic occasion. I know that every Kittitian and Nevisian across the globe will join me in wishing Miss Imo good luck as our Ambassador, who has raised the bar and has moved our beautiful twin-island Federation a little closer to the center of the world stage,” he said.
