Press Release

Charlestown, Nevis - President of the Nevis Cricket Association, Ronald Powell yesterday took time out to make a public statement as regards three Nevis senior cricketers who were involved in an incident in the recently concluded NAGICO one day series of matches, played in St. Maarten.

    The full statement reads:
“The Nevis Cricket Association (NCA) is aware of reports about an incident that took place in St.Maarten on 2nd October, 2010 during the recently concluded Leeward Islands NAGICO one day tournament involving three (3) of our national players.

The tournament was held under the auspices of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association (LICA) of which the NCA is a member. The NCA has been in contact with LICA and the NCA expects that LICA will conduct its own investigation and provide a report to the NCA. While the NCA has been making its own efforts to establish the facts relating to the incident, it is only proper that we await a report from LICA before making any detailed public statement in that regard.

Let me also state that the Nevis Cricket Association has given every member of the Cricket team a copy of its code of conduct which is to guide them into positioning themselves for success. The document speaks to every facet of discipline and if they are to step out of line, the penalty would be applied.

We implore members of the NCA, supporters of Nevis cricket and the general public to be patient until we have received an official report from LICA at which time we would be in a better position to provide further information”.

    END
