Michelle Taylor is a young, vivacious and ambitious teacher of History, Geography and Social Studies. She is presently a member of staff at the Washington Archibald High School where she has been fulfilling a life long dream of helping children develop to their fullest potential. Michelle has been a school teacher for seven years and enjoys the healthy relationship which her personality and training has enabled her to foster amongst the students who have come into her care.
Twenty-five years old Michelle was born in the lively month of December (the time of year that matches her bubbly, friendly and passionate personality) and holds to the philosophy that unfairness and discrimination should not be obstacles placed in people’s way to prevent them from fulfilling their dreams.
Michelle considers it a blessing to have been born to an extremely ambitious mother, Ms Yvonne Taylor, and a likewise visionary and ambitious, Mr Weston Hanley. Her parents ensures that Michelle gained solid academic foundation by enrolling her in the Saint Theresa’s Convent School where she was able to complete her primary and secondary education in the safety and security of the private school environment, and where she learned to be well-rounded, sociable, morally and environmentally conscious individual. These qualities are standing her in very good stead today, thanks to vision of her loving mother and father.
After completing her secondary education, Michelle went on the College where she complete Her Advanced level studies (A’ Levels) and also completed her Teacher Training Programme which qualities her to teach on any island of the OECS and CARICOM as beneficiary of the Free Movement of the Caribbean National processionals. This ambitious young intends to go on to university and become, not only the well-trained teacher she is at present, but a graduate-trained professional enabling her to function very optimum.
Michelle enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and going for nature walks in the beautiful sloping hills and lush greenery of rural St. Christopher. This hobby of hers fits right in to her Academic Discipline which is that Physical Education, (also know as P.E. or Physical Fitness) in the St. Kitts Teachers’ Union Pageant. Michelle studies Physical Education as part of her training programme at college and continues to see physical fitness as an important element in leading a healthy lifestyle. She holds to the now widely recognized view that the involvement of students in sporting activities would most certainly lead to a major boost in self-esteem to increased self-confidence.
Michelle is proud to make it known that she is a satisfied of the St. Kitts Teacher Union. This union, over the years has done its very best to improve the working condition of teacher on the island of St. Kitts, lobbying education authorities for better pay and recognition of the high quality of work performed by teachers in St. Kitts.
