BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 8TH 2010 (CUOPM) – The Board of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School has been commissioned.
The charge to the new Board was issued by Parish Priest Rev. Father Bernard Latus on Sunday 3rd October during Mass at the Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral.
In his homily, Father Latus noted that the new school – a merger of the former Convent High School and the former St. Joseph School – should be seen as an act of faith.
“Who would have believed that several years ago the schools were on the verge of closing and now there are new buildings and a new school,” said Father Latus.
He challenged the new administration and teachers to “believe” in themselves and look to the future and overcome the obstacles, hurdles and challenges.
“Our children are our future and we cannot look in the past as only in the future will one appreciate. You have a role to play,” said Father Latus, who noted that the relationship with Kajola-Kristada began with a simple request for assistance with stationery.
He paid tribute to the Mr. David Mezzalingua and his family for financing the reconstruction and restructuring of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School.
Tribute was also paid to the Principal of the Secondary section, Mrs. Lisa Archibald-Pistana and the Primary section, Mrs. Vernice Rogers, who respectively presented the teachers under their care to the congregation.
The Board comprises Mr. David Mezzalingua (Chairman); Mrs. Miselle O’Brian-Norton; Mrs. Sandra Carter; Dr. Patricia Hensley; Mr. David Mezzalingua; Mr. Mark Wilkin; Mr. Sam N’Galla; Mrs. Margaret Hutchinson; Ms. Agnes Beachman and Ms. Giselle Matthews.
