Gunmen target two in Newtown
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE are currently investigating an incident in which a male teenager was shot last night (Oct. 8) in St. Pauls.
According to a police press release, at approximately 8:35 p.m., officers from the St. Pauls Police Station responded to a report made by the Police Telecommunications Department of shooting in that village.
“Police investigations revealed that Hasim Douglas, 15 years old, was outside his home at Willets, St. Pauls with some of his friends when he was shot in his right hand just below the elbow by an unknown person,” the release read.
It further stated that Douglas was taken to the Pogson Hospital in Sandy Point, where he was treated and later transferred to the JNF Hospital for further examination. He was shortly thereafter discharged.
The police noted that no suspect was in custody but investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, another shooting incident had taken place in Newtown, Basseterre on Tuesday, October 5 but no one suffered injuries.
Information reaching SKNVibes states that at approximately 11:48 on that night, while David Heyliger of Taylors and Kasim Peters Wilkes were asleep at the latter’s Pitcairn, Newtown home, they were awaken to the sound of gunfire.
Reports indicate that multiple gunshots were fired at Wilkes’ home and the two men “took cover in the house until the shooting stopped”.
The police were notified and, on investigating, found that there were several bullet holes on the house. They also found a number of spent shells at the scene.
Investigations into this incident are also ongoing.
