The Leeward Islands Cricket team engaged their Windward Islands counterparts in two practice matches in Antigua, as both teams entered final preparations for the WICB Regional 50 over tournament scheduled to bowl off on Thursday 14th October 2010.

The management of the Leewards team must be more than a little worried however as the team catapulted to two consecutive losses in as many days.

On Sunday 10th October, the Windwards was bowled out for 150 runs on what was described as a ‘tricky pitch’ and the Leewards could only manage a disappointing 116 all out  in response.

On Monday 11th October on a much more batsman friendly pitch, the Leewards could only manage 155 all out in 48.5 overs and this was impressively overhauled by the Windwards in 39 overs for the loss of 5 wickets.

The Windwards who will engage home team  Jamaica on Thursday must be bubbling with confidence but the Leewards who are set to take on Barbados on Friday must be hoping that their batting power can come good when it really matters. Fans in the Leewards will be hoping that the team will get better as they play more matches, as has been the case in the past.
