Two from Village remanded for wounding Newtown man

By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO young men from The Village were today (Oct. 12) remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison for wounding a male Newtown resident.

Kenville Rouse and Casper Rouse, both of Fortlands, Basseterre, appeared today at the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court before Her Worship Josephine Mallelieu-Webbe charged with Wounding with Intent.

Information reaching SKNVibes states that the two men allegedly stabbed Gregory ‘Weber’ Mills of Pond Road, Newtown, multiple times in the upper part of his back on Thursday, September 16, 2010.

The incident reportedly took place at about 6:00 a.m. in the vicinity of the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services (SKNFRS) in Basseterre.

This media house learnt that some one hour earlier, a fight had broken out at a dance held at the TDC ground in Frigate Bay Road, reportedly between two rival gangs of which the victim and accused were allegedly a part.

The fight continued by the SKNFRS and officers on duty there rendered assistance to the wounded Mills by transporting him to the JNF Hospital. However, on arrival, the firemen allegedly observed a number of men, whom they suspected to be gang members, at the entrance of medical institution.

They immediately departed the compound and headed for the St. Johnson Police Station from where police officers took control and returned to the hospital with Mills.

He was treated for his wounds but is still warded at the medical institution.
