BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Two days after it was reported stolen, a van belonging to Mac Pennies was discovered and taken into police custody.
The circumstances surrounding the theft and discovery of the vehicle remain sketchy. However, Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime (ACP Crime), Joseph Liburd told SKNVibes that the vehicle – a blue Suzuki van with registration number P3758 – was reported stolen from the Basseterre area on Sunday October 10, 2010.
The ACP informed that the vehicle was discovered sometime this morning (Oct 12) in the Saddlers area. However, the condition of the vehicle is unknown to this media house.
He said there are currently no suspects in custody and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
Persons having any information that would lead to the identification and capture of the perpetrator(s) are asked to contact either the St. Pauls Police Station at 465-6281 or the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Police Headquarters 465-2241 extension 231.
This is the third vehicle that was reported stolen in less than a month. The first one was a red and black Grand Cherokee owned by the Hon. Marcella Liburd. Her vehicle, according to reports, was stolen from Huggins Auto Rental sometime between September 23 and September 24, 2010, but was found abandoned on September 24.
Sometime between September 28 and September 29, 2010, a white Acura motorcar, R63, was stolen from Bullseye Auto Rental and found abandoned in a cane field in the vicinity of Needsmust.
Investigations are still being carried out into all occurrences.
