Offenders placed on bond for Disorderly Conduct

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Federation’s court has seen it necessary to issue alternative sentences and give second changes to some persons convicted for breaching the law.

The five individuals appeared before Her Worship Simone Bullen-Thompson at the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court, Basseterre early last week.

Jason Nanton and Terrance Hendrickson, both residents of Upper College Street Ghaut, were convicted of “disorderly conduct by fighting” and were bonded for one year in the sum of $2 500. They are to keep the peace and be of good behaviour during that period. Should they default on the conditions of the bond, a one-month custodial sentence would be implemented.

In addition, both men are to remain at least 50 feet away from each other.

Basseterre resident Lewis Powell was convicted of July 23, 2010 offences of “carrying abroad an offensive weapon” and “throwing missiles”. He was placed on a one-year bond in the sum of $1 500 and should he default on the conditions, he would be required to spend one month at Her Majesty’s Prison.

Ardington Syder of Basseterre was also convicted of “throwing missiles”. He was placed on a one-year bond to the tune of $1 500 and, if he defaults, a one month custodial sentence would be imposed.

Lower Monkey Hill resident Jamie Liburd was convicted of one count of “wounding with intent” but was cautioned.

Also, charges of gun and ammunition possession preferred against Mad House Alley resident Terrance Ritchen were withdrawn because of “insufficient evidence”, as understood by SKNVibes. The alleged incident occurred on March 31, 2010.
