10 plea guilty at Traffic Court

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DURING last week’s session of Traffic Court, 10 individuals pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them and were fined accordingly.

     

    Alonso Carey of Tabernacle confessed to committing a June 28, 2010 offence of failing to produce proof of insurance and was fined $300 forthwith, or serve one week at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    New Road resident Ebenezer Gardner told the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court that he committed one count of driving without a driver’s licence and another of driving without insurance. He was fined $500 on the first count, to be paid within one week or serve one month imprisonment, and $1 500 on the second count, to be paid within one month or serve one month in prison.

     

    Alphonso ‘Mem’ Caines of New Road was ordered to pay a $1 500 fine as punishment for committing a June 26, 2010 offence of “driving under the influence”. The sum is to be paid within one week or a three-month custodial sentence would be imposed by the court.

     

    For a June 4, 2010 offence of “driving an unlicenced vehicle”, Maurice Dublin of Haynes Smith Village was fined $300 to be paid forthwith or serve one week at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    John England, St. Peters resident Kwame Samuels was issued a $300 fine by the court for committing a June 22, 2010 offence of “driving without a driver’s licence”. The sum was paid forthwith or Samuels would have faced a one-week custodial sentence.

     

    Devon Caines of Upper Monkey Hill, St. Peters was fined $100, to be paid forthwith, for committing a “failing to comply with traffic signs” offence on June 24, 2010.

     

    For “driving an unlicenced vehicle”, Kurt Richards of Bird Rock was fined $300 which is to be paid within one week or serve one month in prison.

     

    A $1 500 fine has to be paid by Aaron Sutton of Conaree as penalty for committing a September 13, 2010 offence of driving without insurance. The fine is to be paid within six weeks or, in default, he will have to serve one month in prison.

     

    Delroy Henderson of Dieppe Bay pleaded guilty to driving off a bus route; an offence which was committed on June 22, 2010. He was fined $100 which he had to be paid forthwith or face imprisonment.

     

    For “driving without due care and attention”, Natasha Vitchez of Bird Rock was fined $500, which was to have been paid forthwith or serve one week at Her Majesty’s Prison.
