Charlestown Nevis (June 23, 2006) The Nevis Public Library Services (NPLS) has begun to set the stage for its 17th annual Summer Programme when on Tuesday June 20, its major sponsor, the Nevis Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU) presented its annual funding for the 2006 summer programme.
The programme which is in its 17th year, will run from June 30th to July 21st 2006 under the theme, "Our Country, Our People, Our Future."
At a brief function held at the Charlestown Public Library, General Manager of the NCCU, Mr, Sydney Newton said that through its board of directors, management and staff, the Union was pleased to be associated with the annual summer programme.
"We have been involved with this programme since 1994 and we always take pleasure in doing this," commented Mr. Newton.
"As a cooperative, as a credit union, we take this as part of our social responsibility and especially for the children of Nevis. Over the years we are certain that hundreds if not thousands of children have benefited from this programme and we are happy to be a part of this programme."
Librarian Mrs Lornette Hanley, in accepting the EC$2,000.00 sponsorship from the Credit Union, expressed her satisfaction on behalf of the library and noted that the children would benefit tremendously.
