Woman knocked down by truck

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A woman was rushed to the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital earlier this morning (Oct. 15) after she was struck by a pickup truck while in the Cayon area.

Initial reports which reached SKNVibes suggested that a woman identified only as “Pako” was walking along the stretch of road between Cayon and Ottley’s Village, and while in the vicinity of Brighton Estate she was struck by a vehicle said to be the property of BCA proprietor Warren Bradshaw.

Speaking to this media house, Officer-in-Charge of the Cayon Police Station Sergeant Carl Caines indicated that the incident took place at about 6:35 this morning. He explained that the motor vehicle - registered as P322 – which was driven by Bradshaw, was travelling towards Basseterre and Pako was walking in the opposite direction when a collision occurred.

The woman, according to reports, was removed from the scene by a unit from the Emergency Medical Services and transported to the JNF General Hospital, where she is receiving treatment. SKNVibes, however, is unable to ascertain the woman’s injuries and their degree of severity.

Although SKNVibes has not yet been able to identify the village from which Pako hails, investigations revealed that she has a habit of traversing – by foot - the streets in those areas.

SGT Caines indicated that investigations are ongoing and “at this stage we cannot say if charges will be laid”.
