Two ladies raped; police investigate

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A young lady suffered through trauma on Thursday (Oct. 14) when she was reportedly raped somewhere in the Basseterre area.

     

    Information which reached SKNVibes suggested that some time during that afternoon the young lady was waking through Basseterre when she was approached and subsequently raped.

     

    Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime (ACP Crime), Joseph Liburd confirmed that the police are making investigations into the reported incident and one person has since been taken into police custody to assist with investigations.

     

    He also informed that police on Nevis are making investigations into another incidence of rape that took place in the St. Thomas’ area, Nevis.

     

    ACP Liburd said a young woman was raped there on Monday evening (Oct. 11) and, as a result of investigations, two individuals were taken into police custody and they were formally arrested and charged in accordance with the crime.

     

    Investigations into both occurrences are ongoing.
