By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ON December 18, the Soca Monarch Competition, which was removed from the line up since 2007, will be reintroduced at this year’s National Carnival.

According to a release on the National Carnival’s website, there would be a registration fee along with a registration form for all interesting persons who wish to compete for the title. A preliminary stage competition would also be followed.

The title of Soca Monarch will go to the contestant with the best power Soca song. Contestants can enter the competition as a solo act, a duet or group.

Rules for the competition are available online at www.stkittsandneviscarnival.com or can be collected from the Secretariat Office on Victoria Road.

The last Soca Monarch was King Konris who sang ‘Walk Away’.

This year’s National Carnival will commence on December 17 and concludes on January 3.
