BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ON December 18, the Soca Monarch Competition, which was removed from the line up since 2007, will be reintroduced at this year’s National Carnival.
According to a release on the National Carnival’s website, there would be a registration fee along with a registration form for all interesting persons who wish to compete for the title. A preliminary stage competition would also be followed.
The title of Soca Monarch will go to the contestant with the best power Soca song. Contestants can enter the competition as a solo act, a duet or group.

The last Soca Monarch was King Konris who sang ‘Walk Away’.
This year’s National Carnival will commence on December 17 and concludes on January 3.
