TDC Sandy Point Branch broken into

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THIEVES continue to target members of the corporate community and over the past weekend the Sandy Point Branch of TDC was their latest victim.

Senior Supervisor of that branch Leslian Daniel told SKNVibes that the building was last secured on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at about 12:30 in the afternoon, with all things being in order.

He further explained that when the staff returned to work shortly after 7:20 this morning (Oct. 18), they discovered papers were strewn about and a vault that was left standing in an upright position was found on its back.

Daniel told this media house that whoever the perpetrator(s) were, it appeared that they tried to open the vault but were unsuccessful in their attempt. He however informed that the thieves made off with a number of small items from the entity.

Whereas the custom is that TDC (Sandy Point Branch) would open its doors for business at 8:00 a.m., the incident resulted in a two-and-a-half-hour delay.

The crime was reported to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, members of which reportedly visited the scene and conducted preliminary investigations.

The Senior Supervisor indicated that management is already working on implementing certain measures to at least “safeguard against a repeat of this occurrence”.

Over the past months, bandits have turned their attention to business entities and have either attempted to or successfully robbed Gillard’s Texaco Gas Station, St. Peters; Royal Bank of Canada, Wellington Road Branch; Western Union outlet, West Independence Square Street; National Bank, Sandy Point Branch; and B’s Enterprises, Sandy Point.

All reported incidents are still under investigation.
