Basseterre, St. Kitts - A donation of phones to the St. Kitts & Nevis Fire and Rescue Services last Tuesday should make communication easier for that essential service. The donation of 5 Samsung 2100 phones was in fulfillment of a request made to LIME by Fire Chief Hester Rawlins, to shore up its communication capabilities especially in this active Hurricane season.
LIME’s Corporate Communication Manager, Laverne Caines made the presentation to the Fire Chief following a brief ceremony witnessed by a number of senior ranks of the Fire Service as well as Minister of National Security, Honourable Sam Condor.
“We have always been proud of the partnership that we have with LIME,” said the Fire Chief. He pointed to the recently-concluded Summer Fire Safety Camp which the company has provided assistance to for the past three years. “This is a company that has always responded whenever we request their assistance,” he concluded.
In brief remarks, LIME’s Corporate Communications Manager said that her company was happy to honour the work of the Firemen through the donation of phones. “We have seen you at work in the community and admire your courageous contribution. We stand ready to assist you whenever we can,” she said.
Minister of National Security, Hon Sam Condor praised the contribution of LIME in general saying that government values private sector partnerships. He however cautioned the Fire Officers not to misuse nor abuse the phones, but to put them to the most appropriate use in executing their jobs .
In addition to providing the phones popularly described as “construction phones” because of their robustness, LIME also promised to connect them in a calling circle which would make calling the numbers in the group free of cost.
