BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – KAISO! Kaiso! That is right people, the time is here once again when many calypsonians will come out to shine; some with their funny, witty personalities while others simple tell it like it is.
On Sunday November 7, the two calypso tents, Proud Sounds and Legends, will be launched at Beaumont Park commencing at 4:00 p.m. However, not all calypsonians will be performing on that day.
According to Wingrove Hicks of the Proud Sounds Calypso Tent, he currently has 35 calypsonians and among them are a number of newcomers.
On the other hand, the Legends Calypso Tent, which is headed by reigning Calypso Monarch King Socrates, currently has 27 calypsonians and counting. He said some of the calypsonians are still trying to get their music together; therefore, the number could be increased.
Socrates said Legends would begin rehearsals this evening (Oct. 19) and they currently have three new females on board as well as two males - Lord Flex and Reggae sensation Masud Sadiki.
A number of calypsonians have already begun releasing their songs on various radio stations, setting the paste for the 2010/2011 calypso bacchanal to begin.
