Charlestown, Nevis - Treasurer of the Nevis Netball Association Allister Thompson has revealed that everything is pretty much in place for the commencement of a Business Netball league which will be hosted by his Association in just about a week’s time.
According to Thompson some seven teams have already confirmed participation and a few others from the thirteen that originally showed some interest are still contemplating their participation.
The teams that have confirmed participation are:
Nevis Social Security
First Caribbean Bank
Charlestown Secondary School Teachers
Physical Education Teachers (PE)
Vera Herbert’s team from St.Thomas’
Majestics out of Gingerland
The under 23 team
Thompson spoke while assisting Nevis Netball chief, Jan Grell Hull and Trainer Masefield Nisbett take the Nevis under 23 team through rigorous drills at the Netball complex last evening.
Thompson indicated that even though the young ladies will not be representing the island in the regional tournament until next year June, the Nevis Netball Association has made a determined bid to have them match ready, well in advance of the date. Hence the reason why the team will participate as a unit in the upcoming Business league.
Thompson is confident that by the time the regional tournament comes around next year that the Nevis team would be able to represent at a very high level.
The Business league shoots off on Thursday 28th October at 6pm at the Grell Hull/Stevens Netball Complex. There will be a brief opening ceremony and immediately after that the league matches will commence.
Up for grabs are three trophies sponsored by the Nevis cooperative Credit Union for first, second and third place and of course ‘Bragging rights’.
