BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LAST year he sang ‘Hermia’ and had many people in St. Kitts and Nevis talking about that song, but this year Lord Kut will be singing about the ‘Foot Soldiers’ and the ‘Promiscuous Philanderer’.
The songs were released last week and people are already talking about them. One individual claims that by just hearing the title of Lord Kut’s rendition - Promiscuous Philanderer – he was drawn to listen to the song.
“This song is about using condoms and a guy who spreads his wings because all our lives we are told by the media and other people that condoms are safe. But after using the condoms which one day burst, he found out they are not that safe after all,” said Lord Kut.
On the other hand, Lord Kut said Foot Soldiers speaks of the freedom fighters, the everyday man in the street. He told SKNVibes PEP that the idea of this song came from the election season, because during that time all the foot soldiers came out in their numbers dressed in red, but one could see them today still struggling with no one to help them.
Lord Kut said he is hoping for Foot Soldiers to create that spark which was done by Hermia. His other rendition in last year’s competition was ‘We Can’t Continue This Way No More’, which took him into the Semi-finals.
He said Promiscuous Philanderer and Foot Soldiers would be his two songs for this year’s calypso arena, depending on how good they work themselves.
