BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A 12-member jury yesterday (Oct. 19) delivered a mixed verdict (10-2) in the Basseterre High Court of Justice that found Wendell Prentice not guilty of a rape charge.
This was the first rape case for the September 2010 Assizes which allegedly occurred on February 23, 2009 at Wigley Avenue.
SKNVibes has learnt that the alleged incident occurred sometime close to 7:00 p.m. involving a young woman who accepted a lift from Prentice.
This media house also learnt that the young woman was familiar with Prentice. The prosecution however alleged that he took her in a different direction to which she lived and had sexual intercourse without her permission.
The accused was represented by Barrister-at-Law Jason Hamilton and was on bail before his case was tried.
Four witnesses testified in the case, including a doctor, a police officer and the victim.
