Allister Williams - Carnival Living Legend Extraordinaire Honoured!!

Basseterre, St Kitts – 25th October 2010 – The greatest natural resource of this country is the people with a thirst and hunger for fulfillment.  One such person is Allister Williams – Executive Director in the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, who was recently recognized for his individual achievement and national contribution to Carnival and Culture.
 
At the Official Launch of Sugar Mas 2K10-2K11 on Saturday 16th October in downtown Basseterre, the new Executive Committee for National Carnival presented Mr. Williams with a special award as a token of appreciation for his outstanding service and commitment.
 
The name Allister Williams has become indelibly imprinted on the growth and development of the modern Carnival landscape of St Kitts and Nevis.  His longstanding track record as a leader has earned him the distinction of being the only person to have served the National Carnival Committee as Chairman and CEO simultaneously.  He has become the voice and face of Carnival with a stellar portfolio dating back to 1986 when he joined the National Carnival Talented Teen Sub Committee.
 
Allister’s Events Management grounding and experience were nurtured and honed at the Hotel & Tourism Association (HTA) as one of the main organizers of the Caribbean Tourism Pageant and the Regional Small Hotel Retreat at the Four Seasons, Nevis.  Ever since that time his involvement in major activities has expanded to include:
 
-          Organizer of the King and Queen of the Festivals
-          Management team of the historic Carifesta event in 2000
-          Chairman of the Opening and Closing Sub Committee for the 2007 Carifta Games in St Kitts
-          Adjudicator for both Calypso and Queen Shows locally and regionally
-          Founding Member of the Rotaract Prince and Princess Show
-          Served as Volunteer on World Cup 20/20, the Rotaract Club and the St Kitts Jaycees
     and Executive Director of the St Kitts Music Festival
 
Allister’s strong organizational talent and competence blended with his warm amiable and magnetic personality coupled with his down-to-earth charisma, accounts for the high level of volunteerism, attracting a new breed of Carnival visionaries to the Carnival Committee family.  Volunteers would spare no effort in telling you that they give of their time and expertise because of Allister and the joy and fulfillment derived from working with him.
 
Allister accredits his work ethics to the watch words of the Jaycees creed “… service to humanity is the best work of life.”
 
When the history of Carnival of our Federation is written the legacy of Allister Williams’ extraordinary devotion and commitment to duty, will stand out like a beacon from which others who come after may be guided and inspired to serve.
