LONDON, England – IT is another sad day in the music industry as one of Jamaica’s Reggae legend, Gregory Anthony Isaacs, passed away earlier this morning in his England home.

According to reports, the old school singer lost a lengthy battle to cancer.  Born July 15, 1951, Isaacs had been singing since in his early teens.

His recording debut was a duet with Winston Sinclair, titled ‘Another Heartache’, which was recorded for producer Byron Lee. Although the single did poorly, Isaacs went on to team up with Penroe and Bramwell making up the singing group - The Concords.

In the late 1970’s, Gregory Isaacs, Denis Brown and Bob Marley were known as the biggest Reggae performers in the world.

Isaacs had a drug problem which caused a setback in his music career for a number of years. He had also lost most of his teeth which affected his voice; but that did not stop him, for he got back on track and continued recording.

The artiste was well known for his many hits such as ‘My Only Lover’, ‘Black A Kill Black’, ‘Permanent Lover’ and ‘Rumours’, but perhaps best known for ‘Night Nurse’ which had a number of other versions done by various artistes.

Isaacs is still today known as one of the greatest Roots Reggae singers out of Jamaica who played a pivotal role in the development this genre.
