BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CARNIVAL VILLAGE came alive yesterday (Oct. 24) with a modelling show dubbed ‘Colours’, which was organised by Jason Amory of Mavado Modeling Agency.
The show got on its way sometime after 5:30 p.m. with the opening number by the models, who all went on stage dressed in different colour camisoles and short jeans.
That was followed by the renditions of Sandy Point songbird C-Money, after which the models returned onstage in clothing by Island Hopper.
A total of 14 female and nine male models took the stage throughout the evening and were joined by guest models of the Thoroughbreds group and pass Classique Model Agency.
The show was made up of models from the Mavado Model Agency, Xclusive Model Management and S Model Management. They all made over 10 appearances in designs from SK Fashion Plus, Winnielle’s Irie Lioness Clothing line, Tyrilda’s Boutique, Shakki Heath, Brown Sugar, Petal Designs and St. Martin’s Kai Designs.
Most of the appearances by the models had nicely choreographed routines, but the one that received the most applause was when three male models went onstage and posed while another joined the trio, lifted and placed them each in a mannequin’s position.
In one of the other routines, the models depicted tourists getting off of a cruise ship and checking out the local fashions of Island Hopper.
Other performances included those of Minister LK and the Dymanyzd Ladies, Kandie and Babby.
Amory said that the theme of the show came in light of Tourism Month, which is celebrated in October. He also said that he wanted the event to reflect on the various races in the Federation, tourists and the various colours and styles of designs that were showcased.
The show ended sometime after 8:00 p.m. with the grand finale, as the models went onstage in the outfits from their opening number, doing a sexy, elegant model routine with a little dancing. They were joined by Amory, who was applauded for hosting a great show.
The audience seemed very pleased with the event, as most of the comments heard by SKNVibes PEP upon exiting the venue were all positive.
