Police, family members search for missing Cayon man

By: Suelika N. Creque, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SEARCHES conducted by family members and police officers for a male Cayon resident, who went missing for more than a month, have to date proven futile.

According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Vaughan Henderson, family members of Trevor Herbert had sometime last week reported him missing and members of the Police Force have since been searching for him.

“The Police are currently investigating a missing person’s report that was made to the Cayon Police Station. Searches have been done by officers of the Anti-Narcotics Unit and officers from the Cayon Police Station, but of today searches have been futile,” he said.

SKNVibes spoke with Herbert’s cousin, Geraldo ‘Brabread’ Herbert, who said that he had last seen him on September 16, 2010.

Geraldo said Trevor is in his mid-30s, about six feet tall, slender built and weighs about 160 pounds.
“He’s high-spirited and into farming. We got along as good as family can and he wasn’t the type to mingle with a lot of persons,” he said, adding that his cousin is a Rastafarian.

One of his female family members noted that she and others were not too worried over his absence, because they knew he would normally go into the mountains and remains there for many days. “But this is the first time he has stayed this long and we are worried,” she added.

She said the last time she remembered seeing him was on her birthday, which was celebrated on September 8, 2010.

She noted that some family members had recently returned from overseas and were gathered at her grandmother’s house.

Geraldo said that family members have already searched for him but they were unsuccessful in their quest.

His aunt, Jennifer Herbert, said that she too became alarmed as he would normally go to the mountain on Mondays and return on Fridays, bringing with him provisions for the family.

“We are all worried. He is the oldest grandson…he’s a family man and he likes to know everything is okay with the family,” she said.

Jennifer said that Trevor had lived with his wife and their three children in the United States for some 15 years.

“I feel like something is wrong,” she said.

Inspector Henderson said the police are appealing to anyone who may have information on Herbert’s whereabouts to contact the Cayon Police Station at 465-7258.
