BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – The Federation’s murder rate increased just hours ago when a teenager was gunned down in the Newtown area.
Information which initially reached SKNVibes suggested that the incident took place at about 7:40 this evening (Oct. 28) at the corner of Mad House Alley and Pitcairn Street and resulted in the death of Corey Griffin.
Although SKNVibes understands that the young man was shot, the number of times remains unclear and the circumstances are yet sketchy.
Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime (ACP Crime) Joseph Liburd, said he understands that the deceased is 18-year-old Corey Griffin.
He explained that officers, including those of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and “Crime Scene Officers”, were still out processing the crime scene.

Meanwhile, Liburd is making an appeal to the public to “pass on all and any information that can assist us in the solving of this homicide. Persons with information can call Police Headquarters at 465-2241 and ask to be transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) or you can call me at 662-9336.”
The ACP Crime reminded that all information can be given anonymously and that it will be handled with strictest of confidence.
Griffin’s death marks the 20th murder to have taken place in the Federation for the year.
Investigations are ongoing.
