Press Release

Dieppe Bay, St. Kitts - Beaumont Park presents “HALLOWEEN WITH HORSES” this Sunday afternoon at the Dieppe Bay racetrack with six exciting thoroughbred races, a special 2:30 p.m. first race post, and spooktacular fun planned for the entire family.

There will be costume contests for both girls and boys 12 years of age and younger; as well as for all those who dare at ages 13 and up.  Gates open at 12:30 p.m. with a free bag of candy to children 12 & under while supplies last. That’s right! A haunted house, costume competitions, and entertainment by Nu Vybes Band and DJ Tombstone International beginning once the last race runs with a 5:30 p.m. post time. Admission is EC$10.00 for ages 13 & up, EC$5.00 for children 12 & under.

The race card looks to be exceptional with many well known local names and three horses making their highly anticipated St. Kitts debuts.

In the first race, Secular is expected to return to form after a disappointing seventh place finish in his last appearance on September 19th. Winner of two lifetime starts at Beaumont Park, Secular who is owned by Sovereign Racing Stables and trained by Clement Barnes will have the saddle services of Laird Bailey in the irons. Expected challenges to Secular in this eight horse field are from Our Bud, Colin Ross up, and God’s Grace, who ran a big one at this four furlong distance back on August 8th. Jockey George Quallis has the call.

Please The King will try to make it two in a row after winning at Sunday’s distance at five furlongs on September 19th. There is little doubt that Please The King will have his work cut out for him as he faces seven other challengers. Among those trying to spoil his win streak will be the familiar likes of Ski For Luck, Norse Spirit, Tiedintwine, Ragtime, Spar Dance, Babosa, and Movado. Norse Spirit just missed in his last against Please The King with a game second place finish.  Watch out for Antigua’s Movado in this one. He’s due to bounce back to his performances back in January of this year.

Owner D & S Stables and trainer Ian Liburd will send Mambo Beauty postward in the third race with J’son Liburd getting the leg up by trainer Ian Liburd. This filly should rule as the favorite after winning in her last start well in-hand. Antigua’s Lady J with Jeff Jacobs riding also comes off of a solid win on September 19th. Reina Mia also deserves respect after running two top notch races in both outings. Seven go to the starting gate in this event. This four furlong dash for fillies only, is an excellent betting race.

Three small but select four horse fields highlight the fourth, fifth and sixth races. Atabaas Pride returns to the races after an upset win over Anansi back on August 8th in the fourth race. Owned and trained by Lester Warren, Michael Semple is the jockey. The Answer, a filly running against the boys, will be making her St. Kitts debut representing Antigua. Completing the field is Mr. Big Stuff and Al Portador; both familiar names to the local contingent.

The highly anticipated debut in St. Kitts of American Dance for owner Daislyn Sharpe and trainer Donovan Hall will create quite a stir at the betting windows in the fifth race. Laird Bailey has the call. Rounding out this strong group of colts and geldings are Dothewildthing, High Wire Glory, and Osuna, who is making his St. Kitts debut.

In the finale, Bad Action returns after a very impressive win in making his debut in St. Kitts. Jockey J’son Liburd will wear the colors of owner Daislyn Sharpe once again and will be looking for his second win in a row with this real runner. The three horses that finished behind him in their last race will once again test Bad Action’s true ability. Antigua’s The Chosen One finished second to Bad Action in his last and hopes to be able to turn the tables. Owned by Chief Rocker Stables and trained by Neil Cochrane, Jeff Jacobs has the riding assignment. Schleishinger and Jack Idle complete the lineup.
