BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MEMBERS of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) are currently making inquiries into a crime that was perpetrated against one of their own.

This media house was informed that the incident involved Woman Inspector Richardson and her daughter, and left the former seeking medical attention.

According to a communiqué issued by the RSCNPF’s Public Relations Office, the incident transpired sometime before 12:37 a.m. (Oct. 29).

At that time, the release indicates, “Police officers from the Anti-Gang Unit who were on routine patrol, officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Special Services Unit (SSU) and officers from Basseterre Beat and Patrol Unit responded to a report of robbery in the Camps Estate area. Police investigations revealed that Woman Police Inspector Richardson and daughter Kerlyn Williams travelled to their Camps estate residence in their car, Inspector Richardson drove, and when they got close to their gate Inspector Richardson got out of the car to close her neighbour’s gate and was attacked with a wooded plank by an unknown assailant.”

The police have explained that the Inspector sustained injuries to her head and while her daughter suffered no reported injuries, she was “robbed of a number of items”. The senior officer was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where she was “treated for her injuries and discharged”.

Processing of the crime scene and other investigations into the incident resulted in the recovery of a number of the stolen items. However, as the police indicate, there are “no suspect(s) in custody as yet for this matter but investigations are ongoing.

“However, the police are making a general appeal to persons who may have information regarding this crime to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 465-2241 Ext-220, 231,236 or 466-8361/2,” the release reads.
