Clash Of The High Schools postponed

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE much anticipated second annual Clash Of The High Schools competition, which was slated for Carnival Village on Saturday, October 30, has been postponed due to the inclement weather experienced over the weekend.

According to Cheddi Bradshaw of Island Soul Entertainment, the organisers decided to postpone the event following a heavy downpour of rain that caused the stage to be extremely wet. “Some of the teachers had some concerns and we had to think about the children’s best interest,” he explained.

Bradshaw further explained that he did not want anyone to get hurt while performing, which would have created an even bigger problem. He added that the organisers would hold a meeting with the schools to reschedule another date for the event.

He said the event would possibly be held within two weeks’ as long as all the schools are in agreement and could participate at that time.

The participating schools are the Basseterre High School, the Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Saddlers Secondary School, Verchilds High School, Cayon High School, Charles E Mills Secondary School and defending champs Washington Archibald High School.

They will compete in song and dance for the title and a cash prize of EC$1 500, along with a trophy, other prizes and bragging rights for one year.
