Beaumont Park racing recap for Sunday, October 31, 2010

Press Release

Dieppe Bay, St. Kitts - Racing at Beaumont Park on this Halloween not only found horses competing for purse money, but actually saw both children and adults dressed in costumes competing for prizes. The ghosts and goblins enjoyed this family afternoon and evening outing at the Dieppe Bay oval with costume contests for certain age groups, a frightfully scary haunted house upon entrance to the track, and entertainment by local favourites Nu Vybes Band and DJ Tombstone International.

In the first race, Our Bud found the winner’s circle for the first time in St. Kitts for owner Cedar Racing Stables and trainer Arcott Thompson. Ridden to victory by jockey Colin Ross, Our Bud went the four furlong distance in forty seven and four-fifths seconds. Vybez Cartel finished second and Secular finished third.

Colin Ross came right back in the second race with back-to-back wins aboard Norse Spirit. Owned by Centennial Racing Stables and trained by John Cheefoon, Norse Spirit ran the five furlongs in fifty nine and four-fifths seconds. Please The King was second; Babosa third.

In the third race for fillies only, Mambo Beauty won her second race in a row, giving jockey J’son Liburd his first of two winning mounts on the afternoon program. Owned by D & S Stables and trained by Ian Liburd, Mambo Beauty went the four furlong distance in forty seven seconds flat. Reina Mia and Jumma Girl finished second and third respectively.

Atabaas Pride held on by a nose to win the fourth race over Al Portador, keeping Colin Ross from his third win on the day. Owned and trained by Lester Warren, Atabaas Pride was ridden to victory by jockey Michael Semple. Atabaas Pride ran the four furlongs distance in forty six and three-fifths seconds. Mr. Big Stuff, with jockey Jeff Jacobs in the irons, finished third.

As predicted, American Dance made his St. Kitts debut a winning one. This gave owner Daislyn Sharpe her first of two wins on the Halloween card. Ridden by Laird Bailey, American Dance was quite impressive by coming from off of the pace and going the six and one-half furlong distance in a nice one minute – nineteen and two-fifths seconds. Osuna, also making his St. Kitts debut, finished second. High Wire Glory, a well known and local favourite, finished third.

In the finale, Bad Action once again proved he is the real deal. In doing so, Bad Action tied the track record at the seven furlong distance in one minute – twenty four and three-fifths seconds. Owned by Daislyn Sharpe and trained by Lester Warren, Bad Action was ridden to victory by J’son Liburd. This gave all three connections in the nightcap their second win of the day.

The next race day for Beaumont Park is scheduled for Sunday, November 28th.
