St. Kitts – 2nd November 2010: The FIFA Grassroots Com-unity seminar got underway at the Marriott hotel on Tuesday 2 November with a brief opening ceremony.

Minster of Sports the honourable Glen Phillip, FIFA officials Alvin Corneal, Chris Collie and Michael Boys, along with the President of the local Football Association (SKNFA) Mr. Anthony Johnson made brief presentations to the gathering.

The course is built on the tenant that numerous boys and girls in developing countries have never been exposed to soccer because the economics of those countries and by extension communities do not allow for such exposure. Hence FIFA has decided to place emphasis on this area of development.

Several coaches from the around the Federation were present and gave their commitment to the 5 day course. In the long term, the participants are expected to share the knowledge and experience with boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 12.

Over the period November 2nd to 6th participants will be exposed to several topics and issues surrounding grassroots development included marketing and communication, branding as well as the core of the course grassroots strategies and programming.

In addition to the FIFA officers mentioned above Mr Newton George is expected to join the course as a resource person.

On the final day,   the participants are expected to plan and implement a Grassroots soccer festival
