Basseterre, St Kitts-November 3, 2010- Red Devils Jouvert presentation was unveiled last Friday at Ziggy’s on the Strip. The energetic group of mainly young participants partied from the Basseterre Fire Station to the Strip. On arrival, brief remarks were delivered by Carnival Chairman Clement Ogarro. He thanked the members of Red Devils for injecting a new kind of energy into Jouvert for 2010/2011. Ogarro also encouraged them to continue to dialogue with the Committee to ensure their successful participation in Jouvert on December 27.
Red Devils then presented their Jouvert styles to the massive crowd that was in attendance. Music for the night was headlined by Nu Vybes aka the Sugar band. This coming Friday, October 5 would see another series of launches. Phunn Makers, a Grand Parade entrant would launch their Mas Camp located at the corner of Frigate Bay Road and Kim Collins Highway at 5pm. Camp leader Christine Walwyn outlined that the event would take the form of a social afternoon. The national carnival Committee would show its support with chairman Ogarro delivering brief remarks.
Phunn Makers would be paying tribute to King Ellie Matt “De Calypso Legend”. This troupe would feature sections named after some of Ellie Matt’s top hits. Mas players would also be given an opportunity to sign up for very affordable costume prices. Phunn Makers can be contacted at 466-1842
Also on Friday, but this time in downtown Basseterre , Fhunn Vybes Mas’ Band would be creating quite a buzz around town with curiosity set on high alert about the upcoming double launch of their 2k10 mas’ presentation of ‘A Splash Of Purple’ for Jouvert’ on December 27th and ‘Purple Your Way’ for the Grand Carnival Parade on New Year’s Day.
The launch of Fhunn Vybes signals the official start of celebrations for mas’ band members, supporters and party people and it is scheduled for Friday 05th November. Bank Street will be transformed into a typical Carnival street party where drinks’ specials will flow throughout the night while Nu Vybes aka Sugar Band will get you ready for the 4th quarter Blow Out. Partnering with Fhunn Vybes Mas’ Band to make this band launch a spectacular event are Carib Brewery, C&C Trading, St Kitts Scenic Railway, Contec, Kays Fine Jewelry, Twists Bar & Restaurant, Sol and American Airlines.
Persons registering for both Jouvert and the Grand Carnival Parade will get a chance to win one airline ticket on American Airlines to any American Airlines North American destination as well as Canada and the Caribbean. Mudsunami Jouvert troupe was launched on October 2 and reigning champs Lime Xtreme Bacchanal will stage its launch on November 27. Revelers are patiently waiting on information from Inferno and Banker Mas Camp the reigning Grade parade champs.
