Charlestown, Nevis - The action got on the way in terms of actual matches yesterday in the 2010 Giant Malt sponsored Primary School football league.
In the matches played at the Bath Village playing field, St.Thomas’ Primary locked horns with the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary in a B division fixture.
At the end of the game, Elizabeth Pemberton Primary came away the winner with a score line of 2 goals to 1.
For the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary, their MVP for the game, Anthony Silvera scored the 2 goals, one being a penalty. For the St.Thomas’ team, the lone goal scorer was Devon Jeffers but Tahidre Smithen was awarded as the MVP for the team.
In match two, the two teams engaged each other, this time in the A division. The St.thomas’ team urged on by some parents and their teachers, totally dominated the game, despite the loud cheers coming from a sizeable cheer leading group from the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary.
Just about two minutes into the game, a fleet footed Ashon Tross drew first blood with a powerful right booter from close range after an impressive run through. Thereafter, the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary’s defence struggled to keep away the sharks from the goal area.
In the final analysis, it was 3 goals to zip score line, in favour of St.thomas’.
Ashon Tross was awarded the MVP for St.thomas’ with his two goals. He was helped by Shevon Jeffers who scored one.
