Boyfriend charged with Chantelica’s murder

MURDER VICTIM: Chantelica Thompson
By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THE boyfriend of Chantelica Thompson was charged with her brutal murder days after he was taken into custody to assist police with their investigations.

Information reaching SKNVibes indicates that Delvin Wilkinson, formerly of Lodge Village in St. Kitts, was formally charged with the capital offence on Friday, November 5.

The charge was instituted one day after Barbados-based Forensic Pathologist Dr. Stephen Jones performed an autopsy on the body of the deceased and revealed that the cause of death was as a result of stab wounds to the chest and head with haemorrhage and shock.

The 19-year-old woman, who originally hails from Brown Hill Village, Nevis, was found sometime after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 2 in her Pond Hill Village residence lying in a pool of blood with what appeared to be stab wounds to the body. She was later pronounced dead by District Medical Officer Dr. Chandy Jacobs.

The Brownhill Communications Limited employee was at the time sharing the home with Wilkinson, their one-year-old daughter and her younger sister, who is a student at the Charlestown Secondary School.

According to information reaching this media house, Wilkinson had allegedly found the fully clothed, motionless body of his child’s mother lying in a pool of blood in their home. He then ran to a neighbour’s house from where the neighbour called the police and notified them of the incident.

Speaking this morning with Inspector Hilroy Brandy, he told SKNVibes that the 28-year-old Wilkinson was scheduled to appear in court today to answer to the charge.

Thompson, who would have celebrated her 20th birth anniversary in December, is Nevis’ fifth homicide victim and the Federation’s 21st for the year.
