    Participants attend the Youth Department's Staff Development Day
     
    Basseterre, St. Kitts (June 30, 2006):
    Civil service procedures were chief among topics highlighted at the Youth Department's Staff Development Day held at the NEMA Conference Room on Thursday.

    Chief Personnel Officer of the Human Resource Management Department Morlene Whittaker made the presentation touching on a wide variety of subjects including appointment to the civil service, resignation and retirement, increments, official leave as well as pension and gratuity.
     
    Heather Richards of the same department presented "coping with stress in the workplace" while Curtis Martin spoke about communication and teamwork. 
    The sessions were described as timely and informative by the participants.
     
    The afternoon session was devoted to reviewing and amending the National Youth Policy. 

    Director of Youth Geoffrey Hanley explained that the review was the first step in having the policy finalized and
    Chief Personnel Officer of the Human Resource Management Department Morlene Whittaker presented on civil service procedures.
