Basseterre, St. Kitts - A clearer picture is emerging in the Green Valley League as there are about 8 matches to complete the preliminary round. The fight for the two remaining spots narrowed down to mainly three teams after the weekend games.
Cayon Football Academy jumped to 13 points after Sunday Morning Blues failed to show for their game. Later on Saturday Spooners whipped Green Valley Pub 8-0. For the second time in the league a goal keeper was able to score in the run of play. Tyrone O’loughlin donning the gloves for this game took advantage of the domination by his team. He drifted forward on a play and picked up a loose ball from about 25 yards out a drilled a hole in the Pub’s net. That made it 5-0. Omarli O’Loughlin had scored the fastest goal for the season (45 seconds) and added two more for a hat trick while lone items came from Ruan Morton, Melroy Morton, Kurt Morton, Kenville Rogers.
On Sunday Lodge and Water Works played to a nil - nil draw. The Benjamin brothers caused a lot of problems for the Lodge defense but just could manage to score. Kervin “Infamous” Benjamin in particular had two very clear opportunities. Waterworks now stand on 20 points with one game remaining and that promises to be an exciting one as the come up against Spooners.
Little Loxs got the better of Radicals 2-0 in a game interrupted by rain. Lesman “Hodgie” Abbott scored a hard low drive then Philmore Powell chipped a ball to Jason Isaac in the Radicals goal who spilled it into the net. At the interval more showers came down and Radicals conceded the game. The result placed Little Loxs in a good position for second place if they can win all their remaining games and Waterworks loses to Spooners.
