Theron and Tyson-brand new doubles champions

The Tennis doubles finalists exchange courtesies before the game
Press Release

Charlestown, Nevis - (Drum roll)----and the winners are: Andre Theron and Wayne Tyson!
The action was fast and furious last evening at the Stoney Grove Tennis court as the Men’s doubles finals hosted by the Nevis Amateur Tennis Association (NATA) and sponsored by TDC, unfolded in front of an enthusiastic number of spectators.

Andre Theron and Wayne Tyson engaged the combination of Anthony Webbe and Ernie France.  The latter pair played some excellent tennis in parts and there was one particular stretch of play when Ernie France literally brought the spectators to their feet when he won no fewer than five points on the trot with some inspirational play.  Webbe for his part used his experience to keep the opponents in view.

However, on the night, the team of Theron and Tyson played the more impactful Tennis.  Tyson was especially sharp, close to the net and Theron brought off some spectacular saves of his own.
In the end, the final scores probably do not do justice to the intensity of the match:
Six to three; six to four—in favour of Theron and Tyson.

The winning players were gracious in their victory.  Theron noted that Webbe and France had played well but felt that on the night, his team had just managed to stay in front.  He was especially happy that he had not been forced to play another set.
Tyson on the other hand lamented the fact that more pairs had not ventured to participate in the tournament but thought that it was a great tournament nonetheless.

Webbe was warm in his praise for tournament sponsors TDC and congratulated the winning pair on their victory.  He was quick to admit that they had played better on the night.
France also congratulated the winners and also hoped that more persons would participate, next time around.

President of the NATA, Anthony Webbe revealed that the closing ceremony will be held on a date to be announced shortly.
