Local Football league delayed

Press Release

Charlestown, Nevis - An official within the Nevis Football Association has informed that the local senior Football league will not commence this weekend as was previously hoped.

According to the official up to yesterday, Wednesday 17th November, only two teams had registered for the league so far.  The two teams registering are: Bath United and Villa International.

The official expressed surprise that some of the other established teams on the island like Brand Slybo Stoney Grove, last year’s champs and Newcastle United, failed to meet the Monday 15th deadline for registration.

Asked what would be the next move by the Association, the official indicated that his Association was due to meet last evening to determine the way forward.
It is hoped that the current impasse will be quickly resolved so that Football fans would be able to witness what is expected to be an action filled season.

In related news, Villa International journeyed to St.Kitts last weekend and defeated Windsor University 5 goals to 2.  Despite the fact that the Football season will not commence this weekend, plans are afoot for the two registered teams to meet in a friendly this weekend.
