Charlestown, Nevis - The St.Thomas’ Primary School A team completed a clean sweep yesterday at the Bath Village playing field when they defeated the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School 3 goals to 1 in the Giant Malt sponsored Primary School Football league. This meant that they would have won every single game that they played in the tournament, even defeating the last year’s champs, Charlestown Primary.
Effectively, even though an official announcement has not been made by the organizers, St.Thomas’ has therefore secured championship honours in the A division.
Coach Eddy Caines was ecstatic: “Last year we came first in both the A and the B divisions and we came back and we worked really hard and now we are reaping the fruits of the hard work”, he stated. He was high in praise for the team effort for both of his teams and indicated that even though Belle Vue Int was unbeaten in the B Divison; his B team still had an outside chance at championship honours in the B division.
The winning Coach also graciously offered his assistance to the players from the other school as he invited them to join up with his annual Football coaching clinic which he holds each during the summer vacation.
The players for both teams were quite upbeat as they posed for a team photo at the end of the game and MVP Marcus Duberry led out exuberantly with the call for three cheers for the teams.
