Basseterre, St. Kitts - A lively and enthusiastic worship service at the Wesleyan Holiness Church in Molyneux heralded the start of a successful week of activities. That is the word from the organizers of the seventeen anniversary commemorative events in honour of Dr Hon Timothy Harris, Senior Minister and Member of Parliament for Constituency 7.
Dr Harris has won his seat convincingly in five General Elections (1993, 1995, 2000, 2004 and 2010). In the last three elections Dr the Hon Timothy Harris secured nearly seventy five percent of the votes cast. In spite of inclement weather persons of all walks of life turned out to show solidarity with Senior Minister Harris on Sunday. Among them were His Excellency the Governor General, Sir Cuthbert Montraville Sebastian, Deputy Prime Minister, Hon Sam Condor, Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Department, Members of the Diplomatic Corp, family members, friends, well wishers and scores of constituents.
The church was packed and overflowing with other members of the congregation having to find space under a pitched tent on Thomas Street in Molyneux. Shirley Williams and Ericson Westcott each rendered beautiful songs in an inimitable style, with Celeste Bryon reading the scripture lesson.
Longstanding Labour party activist, Martha Archibald was presented with a gift by Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.
The Wesleyan Holiness Church presented Dr the Hon Timothy Harris with a plaque commending his illustrious support to his community and country. Reverend Ericson Cumberbatch delivered a thought provoking sermon captured in the theme: LESS TO DO YOU BEST.
Dr the Hon Timothy Harris responded to the warmth, love and best wishes extended to him in his eloquent, humble and sincere way. He thanked a long list of persons for their support to him and constituency #7. He pledged to do his very best to serve to his constituents, country and mankind.
He thanked God for his mercy, grace and peace and expressed hope that he will always find God favour. The service ended in a joyous note.
Following the church service, the Constituency Labour group, lead by his Constituents visited loved ones at the grange and hospital.
