Heavy rains yesterday afternoon forced the postponement of the matches scheduled in the Giant Malt sponsored Primary School Football league.
Sports Coordinator in the Ministry of Education, Lydia Thompson-Claxton explained that the previously scheduled matches will still be played this week, weather permitting. She noted that the tournament did not have a lot of matches left to be played and therefore instead of climaxing on Thursday as previously planned, the tournament may culminate this coming Friday.
Among the matches left to be played, is a key encounter between The Belle Vue Int and the Charlestown Primary School which may well help to determine the B division champions.
One parent also hinted that the matches must be completed this week as the children in the various schools would be having their end of term tests next week.
Sports Coordinator Claxton also indicated that the closing and prize giving ceremony for the tournament will not be done on Friday even if the matches are completed, but will be planned for some other time.
Barring inclement weather conditions, the matches for today will be played as scheduled.
