Press Release

The St.Paul’s Masters Parish team continued their winning ways last evening, when they secured a comfortable victory over St.Thomas’ at the Ramsbury grounds.

St.Thomas’ called right at the toss and elected to bat first. Teddy ‘Blackman’ Liburd got his middle stump knocked over very early by Elroy ‘Jimbo’ David but Charles Morton continued to demonstrate that he was in really good form and played a few exquisite shots. One huge straight hit off the bowling of Patrick Newton was a peach.

He unfortunately overbalanced while essaying a flick at an otherwise wide delivery from Mikey Williams and Donovan Matthews had the bails off in a flash.

Lincoln Barry swung his bat lustily towards the end of the innings and featured in a good partnership with a stodgy Ernie France, while Herbert remained not out at the end of the innings.

The St.Paul’s team never looked in any trouble despite the early loss of the ultra aggressive Merlin Liburd. The experienced Carl Tuckett and Donovan Matthews led the way and Stuart Williams did not have to put on his pads.

    Summarized scores:  St.Thomas’ 123 for 9 from 20 overs
Lincoln Barry 27; Charles Morton twenty-six; Ernie France 20; M. Herbert sixteen*
Elroy David 2 wickets; Mikey Williams 3 and Chris Bass 1
    St.Paul’s 127 for 3 from 17 overs
Carl Tuckett 57*; Donovan Matthew 30 and Chris Bass 18
    Frank Monzac 1 wicket

Matches continue on Sunday 28th November when St.John’s takes on St.Thomas’ at 2 pm and St.James’ takes on St.Paul’s at 5 pm.
