There was much excitement in the Malcolm Guishard Basketball league over the weekend.
In match one on the evening of Saturday 27th November, Ghetto Starz edged out High Voltage sixty-three to fifty-two. The High Voltage team led in the first three quarters by close margins but must have blown a fuse in the final quarter as they succumbed to the pressure from the Gingerland based team.
For the Starz, Matthew Harding 21 points, 12 rebs; 1 assist; Kelvin Bramble 10 points; 13 rebs; Trevor Arthurton 11 points; 5 rebs and 2 assists.
For the High Voltage team, Starrett France scored sixteen points; 5 rebs; six assists;
Alex Isles 11 points; 7 rebs; 3 assists; Michael Scarborough 11 points; four rebs;.
In the second game that same evening, the impressive PJ’s defeated Cradock Road sixty-nine to thirty-four. Everson Webbe scored twenty-six points; 8 rebs; 1 assist; Carvin Smith 18 points; and 8 rebs.
There was only one game played on the evening of Sunday 28th November. CG Rebels were challenged right down to the final whistle by the Church Ground Massives but held their nerves to win 78 to 71.
For the CG Rebels, Kelvin Hobson scored 10 points; fourteen rebs and 1 assist; Donford Wilkinson sixteen points; six rebs and four assists; Jennerson France 15 points; 9 rebs; 3 assists.
For the Church Ground Massives, Kirtney Esdailee 22 points; 11 rebs; 2 assists; Dwayne Warner 20 points; six assists; Uwing Jones 11 point; four rebs; 1 assist.
The next match will see the GSS Black Mambas taking on Craddock Road at six-thirty pm this evening.
