BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ANOTHER firearm and a quantity of ammunition are now off the streets, and six young men are in police custody, jointly charged for the offence.

The six men are: 27-year-old Sherlon Cannonier of Neverson Street East, Newtown; Glenis Lewis (21) of Lower Market Street; Jamal Parris (23) of New Road Housing; Kareem Jeffers (17) of Thomas Street, Ponds Pasture; Ricardo Claxton (21) of Freeman’s Village; and Ishawn Wilkes (24) of Neverson Street East, Newtown.

A release from the Police Press and Public Relations Officer (PRO), Inspector Vaughan Henderson states that as part of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis police Force’s ongoing efforts to crackdown on illegal firearms and related crimes, members of the Special Services Unit and the Anti-Gang Unit yesterday (Nov. 29) executed a search warrant on Cannonier’s premises at approximately 1:45 p.m.

Henderson informed that a search of the premises realised the find of one Keltec 9mm pistol with 11 matching rounds of ammunition and also one M16 round of ammunition.

He further informed that Lewis, Parris, Jeffers, Claxton and Wilkes were found on the premises with Cannonier while the search was being executed, and have all been “formally arrested and jointly charged for possession of firearm and ammunition”.

The PRO stated that the firearm and ammunition were taken into police custody for further analysis and investigations are ongoing.

This recent find has taken the total number of illegal firearms removed off the streets of the twin-island Federation for the year to 41.
