(Basseterre, St. Kitts) The Department of Youth will be organizing two youth camps this summer where one will be held at the Beach Allen Primary School and the other in Sandy Point.
The camp held at the Beach Allen Primary is the annual residential camp that will run from July 23 to August 1.
The theme is "Keeping it positive, Keeping it real" and already 200 campers have registered where there is no more space available for other campers.
The non residential summer camp runs which will be held at the Sand Point Sporting Complex will run from August 9 to 18 and begin from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily.
The theme for the camp is "Children moving in the Right Direction".
The registration fee is ten dollars and will host a capacity of 100 campers as space is still available for registration. The campers and group leader's forms are available at the Youth Department on Church Street and B's Enterprises on Main Street, Sandy Point.
The Department of Youth aims to provide fun and safe avenues for the children to spend their vacation time. The purpose of the camp is for children to interact with each other, developing their social skills.
Along with problem solving, communication, team work, better health practices also to develop skills in cooking, art and craft, wood work, computer, drumming and plenty more.
The camps also give the group leaders opportunities to enhance their parental and mentorship skills.

The activities are for the residential camp, but the non residential camp offers similar but less activities, within sports and culture. They include drumming, art and craft, Spanish, football, cricket, track and field and more.
The camp also offers a full week of field trips to places of interest such as the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, Control Tower, Air and Sea Port, Caribelle Batik, Bottling Company, Breweries and all day picnic at Brimstone Hill.
The Youth Department also targets campers ages 9 to 16 and group leaders 18 and above but will consider some 17-year-old there will also be campers from overseas for the residential camp.
