Here are the guidelines for the tournament:
Mixed Doubles Tournaments
Rules 2010
First phase of tournament. Round robin (everyone plays everyone in their group). First to 8 games, no add scoring. Players score points for the amount of games won. If score is 7 all then play regular tie break game.
Should someone be short a partner at start of tournament it is up to tournament officials to decide if there is enough time for them to find a partner or not play.
Teams tie points: Team/player from different groups are even in points won as well, then we see who has the least points against them, then that team gets higher seed position.
Final phase: ¼ finals and semi finals (knock out phase)
( best 3 sets no add, tie break sets). If a team/player can not play in the knockout phase, then the next best points score from round robin groups goes through to fill vacant spot in ¼ finals. All 6 spots for ¼ finals need to be filled so as to promote the game. Once teams are chosen for ¼ finals and one player/team can’t play, they forfeit the match and other player/team goes through to the semi finals. Finals match regular 3 sets.
Time policy: After 15 min being late (round robin section) the player/team will forfeit and therefore get 0 points and opponents will get 8 points. Should anyone not be able to finish a match due to injury then the match is forfeited and other player/team gets 8 points.
• Players will umpire their own round robin matches, ¼ finals, semi finals
• Any disputes/changes to be by tournament officials
• All matches will be played at Town courts
• Officials Tony Webb and Andre Theron
• Tournament sponsored by Scotia bank
• Top 2 teams from each group will play in the knockout phase
• Prize giving ceremony will be after the finals match at Town courts
• Entry fee: EC$25 p/p which is payable before or at start of matches
