BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN their continued fight against crime and violence, members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has removed yet another firearm off the streets of the Federation.

According to a release, an intelligence-led search in the Taylors area realised the find of one 9mm Ruger Pistol and nine matching rounds of ammunition buried outside a fence.

The search was conducted at approximately 6:45 a.m. today (Dec. 6) by officers from the Special Services Unit, Anti-Gang Unit, Anti-Narcotics Unit and K-9 Unit, who took the illegal handgun into custody for further analysis.

The release however did not state if any suspect was taken into custody, but noted investigations are ongoing.

This find brings to 42 the total illegal firearms removed from the streets by the police for the year.

Just one week earlier (N0v. 29), six young men were jointly charged following the execution of a search warrant on Sherlon Cannonier’s Neverson Street East, Newtown home, where one Keltec 9mm Pistol with 11 matching rounds of ammunition and also one M16 round of ammunition were found.

Those charged along with Cannonier were: Glenis Lewis (21) of Lower Market Street; Jamal Parris (23) of New Road Housing; Kareem Jeffers (17) of Thomas Street, Ponds Pasture; Ricardo Claxton (21) of Freeman’s Village; and Ishawn Wilkes (24) of Neverson Street East, Newtown.
