BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Cayon Primary School ground was filled with excitement last night (Dec. 9) as many adults and children were there to support the learning institution’s first ever ‘Night With The Stars’ Concert.
Although the concert was scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m., it did not kick off until some minutes after 8:00 p.m. with the National Anthem.
A masquerade troupe quickly followed, which got most of the children excited, then the Cayon High School Dancers turned things up a bit with their performance of Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’.
The level of excitement increased as King Konris gave a high-energy performance among the audience and had a group of children running, jumping and singing along as they followed him.
Calypsonian Lord Kut was also there and his rendition was ‘Merry Christmas’. Other performances included those of Nichola Thompson, the reigning Miss Teachers Union, who performed her winning talent from that show, the Mansion Bull, which kept the children running and hiding all around the school’s compound; Jah Fire; Cayon Primary School Dancers; models displaying Faith Benjamin designs; STC; Fire; and Pinocchio and Dog, who thrilled the audience with their captivating performance, as the latter made different oral sounds while the former displayed the actions.
The children were also impressed with a dance presentation by the Fire Man, who used lighted sticks, rubbed them all over his body and extinguished the fire in his mouth.
Some members of the Fresh Kutt Group out of Shanty Town in Cayon also took the stage and was followed by C-Money, who invited all the children to be there with him as he performed.
C-Money was followed by Kash Man, who gave a brief performance, and the ‘Roast Out’ artiste, Ashkanez, took over from him.
Last to perform was Cayon’s star artiste – Infamus. His performance was exhilarating as he belted out a number of his popular songs. He was however unable to complete some of the songs because the children took the lead role.
Night With The Stars was hosted by ‘Cutter’, who many attendees claimed did a superb job. He not only kept the large crowd fully entertained for the night, but also got the children involved throughout the show.
He invited some of the children onstage and made them imitate the artistes by singing their renditions. They were all awarded various tasty and mouth-watering treats.
The show ended after midnight.
