Bridgetown, Barbados – Allrounder Carlos Brathwaite is the only newcomer in the Barbados squad for the upcoming West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 tournament.
The 22-year-old six-footer, who is an opening batsman and medium-pacer, has been rewarded for consistent performance for Banks in the Division 1 tournament. He will join his cousin Jonathan Carter in the squad.
The Bajans will be without experienced opening batsman Dale Richards, who is out with an injury. They have however been bolstered by the inclusion of West Indies players, pacer Kemar Roach, left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn and recent batting recruit Kirk Edwards – who returned home earlier this week from the tour of Sri Lanka.
The Barbadians will open their campaign against Leeward Islands at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on January 11. The tournament runs from January 10 to 23 in Antigua and Barbados. Last year Barbados were losing finalist to Guyana.
SQUAD: Ryan Hinds (captain), Sulieman Benn, Tino Best, Rashidi Boucher, Carlos Brathwaite, Jonathan Carter, Kirk Edwards, Alcindo Holder, Carlo Morris, Ashley Nurse, Kemar Roach, Javon Searles, Dwayne Smith, Kevin Stoute
