Toronto, Canada – Canada have named an experienced team for next year’s West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament. The side will be led by inspirational wicket-keeper/batsman Ashish Bagai, who is making a comeback. The tournament will be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium in Antigua and Kensington Oval in Barbados from Monday, January 10 to Sunday January 23
Bagai is making a comeback from injury which forced him to miss the first edition of the tournament in July when the Canadians lost both their first round matches by nine wickets. They will use the Caribbean T20 as part of their preparation for the ICC Cricket World Cup.
The batting will revolve around Bagai, big-hitter Rizwan Cheema, Hiral Patel and Jamaica-born Tyson Gordon; while the bowling attack will be led by experienced fast bowler Henry Osinde and seamer Harvir Baidwan.
The Canadians have been drawn in Group B alongside Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Leeward Islands and English county side Hampshire. They bowl off their campaign on Tuesday January 11 against Hampshire at 4 pm (3 pm Jamaica Time).
