Local artist Rosie Cameron opened the Spencer Cameron Workshop in Basseterre in 1978 with Kate Spencer and is well known for her studies and artistic portrayals of monkeys and carnival figures. Her work is part of the permanent collection at the FAO building in Rome, Italy.

Tanya Carleton Lovrics is a Canadian born artist who studied fine art and illustration in Canada before moving to St. Kitts in 1998. The vibrant, lush colours of the Caribbean have lent themselves to her palate, which includes hints of fuschia, tangerine and lime green. The majority of her original work is on display at the Modern Caribbean Art Gallery or in private collections.

Claudia Amory, born in Switzerland, moved to St. Kitts twelve years ago where she discovered and filled the need for talented framers. She is the creator of Shell Works St. Kitts, an astonishing collection of unique pieces of Shell Art, featuring natural materials such as driftwood, mother of pearl, sugar cane and air roots of the trees of the tropical rain forest.

Director of the Alliance Francais Rita Schneider told SKNIS that her organization would continue to promote the patronage of fine art and its creators as part of its programme to increase exposure to other cultures including that of French background.
